August Beauty Favourites 2014

Products I've been loving - August 2014!

The Body Shop Brush on Radiance in Pink
Cost: $22.00 at The Body Shop
I bought this product at the beginning of the month and have been using it since. This product will last you for a while as you just need a tad bit to give you a nice glow to your cheek bones.

The Body Shop Body Butter in Mango
Cost: $20.00 at The Body Shop (200 mL)
This body butter smells delicious and is the perfect scent to use during the summer time. It is a very thick body butter which leaves the skin feeling soft which is best for people with extremely dry skin.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in Medium Matte
Cost: $20.00 at The Body Shop
When I don’t feel like using my bronzer in the Sephora Palette I go for this bronzer. It comes in four different shades and I picked up Medium Matte. It is a beautiful matte finish that gives you that natural contour look without making you look orange.

Maybelline Pumped Up Collosal Volum’ Express
Cost: $6.96 at Walmart
This mascara gives me great length especially when I combine it with the Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes mascara which makes my lashes super long and voluminous that lasts throughout the day

Essie Nail Polish in Bond with Whomever
Cost: 8.96 at Walmart
Perfect lilac colour, with just two coats you get a beautiful pigmentation that will last you about a week

Sephora Bronzed and Blushing Face Palette
Cost: $18 at Sephora
This has been my go to palette for this month, I have a full review on it on my blog, check it out for more details!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Berry Couture
Cost: $7.46 at Walmart
Berry Couture is one of my favourite lipstick shades. It is a beautiful shade that suits all skin tones and is a lightweight moisturizing lipstick that adds a slight shine to the lips.

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Hot Red
Cost: $2.00 at Walmart
This lipstick is a great affordable lipstick, I love using this lipstick when I feel like wearing a red lip, it gives a slight shine to the lips and it lasts for a long period of time

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer
Cost: $12.97 at Walmart for Full Size (125 mL)
I bought the smaller size to try it out since I've heard a lot of good reviews.  It is a nice light weight moisturizer that sinks into the skin keeping it soft and moisturized throughout the day

St. Ives Green Tea Scrub – Blemish Control
Cost: $3.87 at Walmart
I’ve been using this product for over a month now and I've noticed that I break out less than I used to. It keeps my skin feeling smoother and it smells amazing. I definitely like this scrub better than the original apricot scrub.

Urban Decay- Naked 2 Basics Palette

Urban Decay has done it again!

I was recently on Instagram and I saw a picture posted of this palette. The following day I visited Sephora and decided I would check it out. I asked one of the employers where I could find it and she mentioned that they are not officially being sold until September. She grabbed me a sample from the back and said if I do like it, I could buy it early.

Cost: Sephora - $33.00 + tax

The packaging is the same as the Naked Basics palette as they each contain 6 different shades. I find that the Naked 2 Basics palette contains darker shades and because of this I like it better for my skin tone. I feel that this palette suits tan to darker skin tones better than the Naked Basics palette. I love that the eye shadows are matte and are very pigmented.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Favourites

Revlon's Super Lustrous lipstick collection is one of my most favourites. I find that the formula is very creamy and hydrating to the lips. They have a very wide spectrum of 82 shades to choose from with different finishes including crème, matte, shiny and pearl. These lipsticks are priced around $6-8 each at Walmart. Listed below are some of my favourite and most used shades.

This summer I found myself using Fuchsia Shock and Berry Rich a lot. I love using Plum Velour for the fall because of the rich colour. When going for a bold lip I usually reach for Love That Pink because of its vibrant and pigmented colour.

Bite Beauty Vivid Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo Review

Recently I purchased this Bite Beauty Vivid Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo at Sephora that retails for $15 and ever since I bought I've been using it. I've always heard good reviews about Bite Beauty Lipsticks but I wasn't sure if $28 for the full size was worth it. However, after trying this duo I will be purchasing the full size amount. This duo comes in two vibrant shades, Violet and Palomino. Bite Beauty also has another duo which is much more neutral. These lipsticks are extremely creamy, pigmented and lasts on the lips for a long time. You can easily build up the colour and make it a more intense look. Another bonus with Bite Beauty products is that they are formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates and it is free of synthetics, polybuteness and petroleum byproducts. It is made with lip nurturing food grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat. Overall, I am in love with the Bite Beauty Vivid Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo and I would highly recommend purchasing the Duo and giving it a try and if you love it you can purchase the full size.

What do you think about Bite Beauty products? What's your favourite lipstick shade?

Each contains .05oz 1,55g

Shade: Violet (Top)
Shade: Palomino (Bottom)

Ipsy Bag - August 2014

Ipsy is a monthly subscription service which ships to the US and Canada and includes 4-5 beauty products in a cute makeup bag.
Cost
US $10.00
Canada $10.00 + 4.95 shipping

What was in my August Ipsy bag?

Absolute Lip Balm
What I love about this is that it is a full size product. It has a wonderful grape scent. It applies clear on the lips and leaves it feeling smooth and looking glossy. It also feels very moisturizing and does not leave your lips feeling sticky. One thing that I don't like about this product is that it contains tiny glitter.

Perversion Mascara  by Urban Decay
This product by far was my favourite of the Ipsy bag. I absolutely love it and will be purchasing the full size product. This mascara made my lashes look more full and long in just one application. It also lasts throughout the day and does not smudge. I have no complaints about this mascara.

Coastal Scents Blush Duo
This blush sample is very pigmented. I like the shades of the blush; however, I find if you are of a darker skin tone the second shade appears to be more of an orange colour on the skin

Lord & Berry Eye Pencil
I found this product to be just okay. There was not anything special about it. I did find that it easily smudged when I applied it to my waterline. It would probably be more suited for a smoky eye makeup look.

Dr. Brandt Pores No more Pore Refiner
I did not like this product. I was excited to see a primer in my bag, however when I sampled it on my hand I found the smell awful and overpowering. I did find that it felt silky and smooth but I don't think I will be using this product in the future.

Overall I was pleased with my first Ipsy bag. I am excited to see the products I will receive in my September Bag!

Sephora Collection Bronzed and Blushing Face Palette Review

Bronzer: Los Cabos
Center Blush: Blushing Pink
Right Blush: Coral Punch

Cost: $18 at Sephora

Bronzer: Los Cabos
Los Cabos was the stand out product for me in this palette and is now my favourite bronzers to use.
I love that it is easy to blend and since it is a matte finish it looks very natural on the skin. This bronzer also lasts throughout the entire day which makes it easier for people who are on the go and don't have time to reapply their makeup.

Center Blush: Blushing Pink
I was a bit disappointed with this blush shade because in the pan it looks like a really nice pop of pink; however when applied to the skin it is not as pigmented as appears to be. This blush is a matte finish. I did notice when I tried to apply more product to make it visible it started to look chalky on my skin.

Right Blush: Coral Punch
Coral Punch is a much more pigmented blush compared to Blushing Pink. Coral Punch is also a matte blush. A little goes a long way so fair skin tones must use a light hand when applying this blush. Coral Punch is great for the summer as it adds a nice pop to the cheeks and it lasts throughout the whole day.

Overall, I do really like this palette although the Blushing Pink shade was not as pigmented as I wanted. It is great for people who are on-the-go as it is very travel friendly because of its sleek and compact packaging. I think that this palette is worth the money and will last for a long time because a little does go a long way.
